Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The Seychelles National Youth Council, in collaboration with Taniah Entertainment, has hosted the first audition for the \u2018Grooming of the Performing Artists Programme\u2019 organised by the renowned artist Taniah herself.<\/b><\/p>\n

The audition coincided with the International Youth Festival on Saturday, August 12 and formed part of activities for the 24th edition of the festival locally.<\/p>\n

The programme was an initiative of the artist, singer and songwriter, to give young potential artists a platform to showcase their talents.<\/p>\n

The audition was held at the SNYC training room at the Sacos Tower from early morning until the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Taniah said she was very impressed by the number of young artists that showed up for the audition, which was a clear sign that there are many talents waiting to be discovered.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can honestly say that I am very satisfied with what I have seen so far and I am sure my fellow judges would also agree,\u201d she stated. The panel of judges comprised Taniah, Isham Rath and Alisha Ernesta.<\/p>\n

She explained that the \u2018Grooming of Performing Artists Programme\u2019 under Taniah Entertainment will include different activities, forums and projects for a selected few.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are also planning to look at ways artists are writing music, making sure that the things we are sending out is about positivity, which I think reflects greatly on the theme that SNYC is promoting, which is \u2018Pozitivite Toulezour\u2019\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n

She added the goal was to eventually turn the programme into an academy for upcoming artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will definitely be doing this annually and will also try to meet up with the young artists two or three times a week to increase their knowledge and techniques,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Auditions will also be held on Praslin and La Digue, as well as an additional one on Mahe\u0301 to ensure that the majority of people is covered.<\/p>\n

A series of auditions are scheduled for the months of August to December. SNYC will share details at a later date.<\/p>\n

Following the audition and selection process, a group of 15 to 20 participants per age category is expected to join the programme next year.<\/p>\n

Alberto Dogley, a young artist and one of the participants, said he decided to come forward for the audition as he saw a chance to increase his knowledge in production.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am here to sing two of my original songs and hope to get selected as this is a great opportunity to get better at what I am already doing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Alberto has been singing since he was in secondary school and already has a song aired on local radio.<\/p>\n
