Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The University of Seychelles yesterday held its annual exit seminar and careers fair for students who have completed their programmes and are leaving the university to pursue their career.<\/b><\/p>\n

The fair was being organised for the second time and the University of Seychelles (UniSey) has included this event on its annual calendar to provide opportunities for students and the public to engage and for the outgoing students to identify a career of their choice.<\/p>\n

A total of 18 organisations including banks and aviation authority, among others, took part in the fair.<\/p>\n

The exit seminar saw a few presentations from different organisations explaining how to start a business and what processes to go through once entering the career world or changing career paths. These were by several departments, the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps), Agency for National Human Resource Development (ANHRD) and the Seychelles Investment Board (SIB).<\/p>\n

Natacha Rose, facilities coordinator at UniSey and also a final year student, said that as an in-service student, it has been hard to manage and balance both but being invited to the exit seminar was exciting as it meant that she was in the final stages and was nearing the end of her studies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe seminar shows different perspectives and how I can better support my organisation. This career fair and the seminar are also important because they can help those who are not looking for a job but actually want to start a business,\u201d said Ms Rose.<\/p>\n

Monica Franc\u0327oise, manager of the students\u2019 services section at UniSey, said the seminar was important because it helped the students to acquire more information so as to have a better idea of potential careers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a huge advantage to coincide the exit seminar with the careers fair because it is convenient to have the different organisations display the opportunities to the exiting students,\u201d said Ms Franc\u0327oise.<\/p>\n

Magali Jumaille, a student who is also leaving university, said it was very interesting to follow the different presentations made by the organisations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe seminar with the careers fair is a great initiative, as it brings a wider range of career paths,\u201d stated Ms Jumaille.<\/p>\n
