Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>All eyes turn to Beau Vallon this weekend as the annual popular beach fiesta, Regatta, kicks off today with a series of activities expected to attract a large crowd.<\/b><\/p>\n

Dubbed Regatta50, this year\u2019s event organised by Round Table Seychelles, celebrates 50 years of Regatta.<\/p>\n

Considered as one of most popular events on the Round Table Seychelles\u2019 calendar, this year\u2019s Regatta will include live performances, starting from today, Miss Regatta beauty pageant on Saturday evening, as well as games and sports.<\/p>\n

As such, the Seychelles police have found it fitting to direct its attention to Beau Vallon to ensure the event takes place in a peaceful and secure atmosphere.<\/p>\n

In a press conference yesterday at its headquarters, the police said they will be enhancing their presence in the area, although they have advised the organisers to ensure they also have enough security personnel during the three days.<\/p>\n

Speaking to local media, assistant superintendent Marcus Jean, who is in charge of service delivery within the police, has appealed to the public to respect road traffic regulations and to ensure they park in designated areas so as not to impede traffic flow.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that parking space is limited, so I call on you all to use the lay-by well, to listen to police instructions and leave the road accessible at all times so that emergency vehicles can move without any difficulty,\u201d said Mr Jean.<\/p>\n

The Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) which was also present for the press conference, announced that it will be putting additional bus services in the area to ease people\u2019s movement to and from Beau Vallon.<\/p>\n

According to Bernadette Soffola, who is responsible for operations, there will be special services leaving the terminal on all three days at 8pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe routes where we will have this service are Anse Aux Pins, Les Canelles, Port Launay via Les Canelles, Baie Lazare via La Mise\u0300re, Baie Lazare via Takamaka as well as Perse\u0301ve\u0301rance,\u201d explained Ms Soffola.<\/p>\n

Today, there will be additional bus service leaving the terminal from 4pm to 7pm to Beau Vallon, and tomorrow, this special service to Beau Vallon will start at noon, whereas on Sunday, there will be more buses on all routes, starting from noon.<\/p>\n

Ms Soffola said on Sunday evening, there will be more buses transporting passengers to and from Beau Vallon as it is usually the day where most people attend the activities. The ticket fare after 7pm is R15.<\/p>\n
