Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Day nine of the Cable & Wireless Island Nations Cup took place last Friday, simultaneously with the opening of the 2023 Rugby World Cup taking place in France, and after nine wins in as many matches played, Sharks are still leading the standings on maximum 27 points.<\/b><\/p>\n

In their ninth match of the series on Friday, Sharks were up against Black Parrots where they dominated the latter for a convincing 40-22 win, maintaining their top spot on the league table, having converted 362 points, while conceding 107 for a nett 255 points.<\/p>\n

The defeat kept Black Parrots fifth overall on six points, having scored 215 and conceded 325 for a net -110 points from two wins and seven defeats out of their nine matches played.<\/p>\n

In the second match on Friday, second-placed Flying Foxes registered their sixth win of the series, defeating Snappers 54-12, bringing their tally to 18 points from six wins and three losses.<\/p>\n

They have scored 338 points, and conceded 212, for a nett 126 points.<\/p>\n

As for Snappers, the defeat keeps them fourth overall on 12 points, having converted 239 and conceded 339 for a nett -100 points.<\/p>\n

Marlins are now third on the ranking, after defeating Pirates 48-20 on Friday, bringing their tally to 12 from four wins and five losses out of nine matches contested.<\/p>\n

They have converted 217 points, while conceding 265 for a nett -48 points.<\/p>\n

As for Pirates, they remain at the bottom on six points from two wins and seven defeats out of nine encounters, having converted 162 points, while conceding 285.<\/p>\n

Sharks\u2019 Johannes Hanekom and Guy Parsley of the Flying Foxes are presently the league\u2019s joint leading top scorers, having converted 83 points apiece.<\/p>\n

Young Gael Esparon of Marlins follows on the leader board with 74 conversions.<\/p>\n

Games 10 of the series will take place on Saturday September 30 at Stad Popiler where Snappers will meet Pirates, Black Parrots will play against the Flying Foxes, and Marlins will play against Sharks.<\/p>\n
