Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Mr. Abdi Mahamoud Eybe presented his credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan this Tuesday at State House, thus becoming the first ambassador of Djibouti to the Republic of Seychelles.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the end of his talks with the Seychelles President, Mr. Eybe said he conveyed the warm greetings of his colleague and brother, the President of Djibouti, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh and his ardent wishes for peace and prosperity for the people. Seychellois.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Eybe and President Ramkalawan discussed ways to explore areas of cooperation between our two countries and the signing of a General Cooperation Agreement.The second \u2018Lospitalite Lafyerte Sesel\u2019 Service Excellence Awards will be held on Saturday September 30 at the Constance Ephelia Resort.<\/p>\n

This award is mainly to recognise the best tourism businesses in excellent service-delivery based on monitoring assessments.<\/p>\n

The new addition for this year is the Tourism school clubs award.<\/p>\n

During a press conference last Friday, the director general for Destination Planning and Development, Paul Lebon, shared that for the first award ceremony 122 businesses participated and for this upcoming one, 160 businesses have sent in their candidature. Once again this year, the public will be able to view the event through live streaming.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe public will be able to hear the different experiences from the industry. Tourism businesses were encouraged to register for the different categories most-suited to their operations across different sectors within the industry, and to also nominate their best tourism employees. The businesses are measured two times with a combination of both formal and mystery assessments,\u201d explained Mr Lebon.<\/p>\n

He also shared that within the industry this award was gaining momentum and that registration for the third ceremony will be opened as from October 2023.<\/p>\n

The different categories are Hotels \u2013 large hotels (51 rooms and more), medium hotels (25 room to 50 rooms), small hotels (1-24 rooms) and self-catering and guesthouses; Destination Management Companies (DMCs)\/Tour Operators; Tour guide; Restaurant\/Bar\/Cafe\u0301; Hire craft; Car hire and Taxi.<\/p>\n

The judging criteria are cleanliness and hygiene, staff presentation and<\/p>\n

grooming, welcoming of guests, handling guests\u2019 complaints, staff training, and amenities provided, monitoring of guest satisfaction, creole culture, menus on offer for restaurants and bars and engagement with clients.<\/p>\n

For Best Tourism Employees, the criteria are that the nominated employee must have worked a minimum of one year and is not currently on probationary status at the time of nomination. Nominees should have reliable attendance of assigned work schedule and must be approved by his\/her supervisor prior to being named as the recipient of the award.<\/p>\n

They will be judged on their attitude and commitment, interpersonal skills, work performance and personal traits.<\/p>\n

This year also the tourism department has requested the nomination of a person who has delivered excellent service in businesses such as takeaways, shops or elsewhere and to note that more than 100 people have been nominated.<\/p>\n

Every licensed tourism business can apply to participate in this award.<\/p>\n

In the first award ceremony last year at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort, Julio Lesperance secured the People\u2019s Choice Award, while ultra-exclusive, private plantation house La Cigale Estate clinched the Special Award as Seychelles\u2019 best tourism business.<\/p>\n
