Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The newly accredited ambassador of Djibouti to Seychelles, Abdi Mahamoud Eybe, paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne, on Tuesday afternoon, hours after presenting his credentials to the head of state.<\/b><\/p>\n

In attendance was the deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Gervais Henrie, and the deputy Clerk, Alexandria Faure.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Eybe remarked that he was fortunate to be visiting \u2018paradise\u2019 and was thankful to meet with the Hon. Speaker.<\/p>\n

He noted that Djibouti and Seychelles have a lot in common, and that this was a good time to begin discussions of bilateral cooperation with a particular focus on the fishing industry and maritime security.<\/p>\n

The ambassador stated that similar to Seychelles, Djibouti has struggled over time with issues of piracy and marine-security instability. However, despite such incidences, Djibouti was largely peaceful and stable with a growing service-based economy and an interest in the expansion of industrialisation and exportation.<\/p>\n

The Speaker thanked the ambassador, and stated that cooperation between the countries was welcome, and that maritime security was certainly an area of priority that Seychelles was taking seriously.<\/p>\n

Hon. Mancienne welcomed a partnership, noting that Seychelles and Djibouti share a region and must therefore share their resources and expertise.<\/p>\n

This was echoed by the deputy Speaker, Hon. Henrie, who stated that despite being small both countries were example of democratic stability in the region and must continue to act as examples for the continent.<\/p>\n

The meeting concluded with the Hon. Speaker presenting Ambassador Eybe with a token of appreciation, after which members of the two sides posed for a souvenir photograph.<\/p>\n
