Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The chairperson of the Defence and Security Committee of the National Assembly, Honourable Clifford Andre, has sent a message to the Seychellois people, the Seychelles Defence Forces, the Seychelles Police Force and all law enforcement units on the occasion of the International Day of Peace celebrated yesterday, September 21.<\/b><\/p>\n

Hon. Andre\u2019s message reads:<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the occasion of the International Day of Peace, September 21, 2023, the Defence and Security Committee of the National Assembly joins hands with the President of the Republic, H.E Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan and the Chief of Seychelles Defence Forces, the Commissioner of Police,<\/p>\n

Ted Barbe in wishing first, the Seychellois people and secondly the Seychelles Defence Forces, the Seychelles Police Force and all law enforcement units, a Happy International Peace Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we celebrate this day as a peaceful Nation we seriously need to reflect on the importance of peace and together see how best we can promote such sentiment of love within all structures of our society that are necessary for the prosperity of our people and that of the world in general.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis goes well with the United Nations\u2019 theme of \u2018Actions for peace: Our ambition for the #GlobalGoals\u2019, especially in these times of post Covid-19 whereby so much pain has been endured through the loss of lives and economic difficulties at all levels. This has also taught us how<\/p>\n

dependent we must be on each other, should we want to make it through and survive in this globalised environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis togetherness in peace is the only unquestionable way of bringing much harmony among our people and prosperity for our beloved country Seychelles and the global environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoincidently, as it is also the Seychelles Police Day, we call on the Seychelles Police Force which has a significant role in establishing a climate of peace, to ensure that the foundation of Law and Order is maintained, through the highest professionalism. Their exemplary service of spreading peace and love will no doubt contribute immensely to educating and fulfilling the desirable peaceful reconciliation of the people of Seychelles. It is also important to call on the international community to join us as a small island developing state to continue to promote the UN global agenda of peace. The world should be one where our people can continue to work towards the betterment in global peace, which will ensure that not only peace is maintained, but also the climate challenge is taken by all concerned.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgain, happy International Peace Day. God bless our country and the world at large.\u201d<\/p>\n
