Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>On the occasion of the International Day for Older Persons celebrated on October 1, Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) wants to reaffirm its commitment to providing all Seychellois senior citizens with the necessary support and services.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cOur party recognises the important contribution made by the senior citizens. This generation, which is our parents and grandparents, have held our hands and protected us. They have<\/p>\n

cared for and loved us. Now it is our turn to return the favours and make their senior years a beautiful experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough our work as a political party, LDS is committed to influencing both the executive and<\/p>\n

legislative branches of government to push for the right policies and legal framework on matters that affect the lives of older people.<\/p>\n

\u201cLDS also encourages the increased participation of the senior citizens in community life and civil society. Your participation can influence the government\u2019s policy framework, its action plan and decision making on encouraging the elderly people to practice active living.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we celebrate this day, let us thank God for giving us the protection and love of our elders. Without devotion to their own lives, their families, community and country, Seychelles would not have achieved so much in such a short time of its history.<\/p>\n

\u201cLDS encourages everyone to spend time with their elderly, to love them and care for them on this important day.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wish all the senior citizens a blessed and happy International Day of Older Persons.\u201d<\/p>\n
