Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The Seychelles former Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Alain St Ange has received a prestigious award at the recent Afro-Asian Union (AFASU) Golden Awards for \u2018Man and Woman of the Year\u2019.<\/p>\n

Mr St Ange collected his \u2018Man of the Year\u2019 award for tourism and travel last week in Egypt, while attending the first international conference on Sustainable Scientific Research and Digital Transformation under the theme \u2018A Future Vision for Tourism, Hospitality and Antiquities\u2019 which was being held in the city of Dahad.<\/p>\n

The award is said to be the most important one in the AFASU Golden Awards collection.<\/p>\n

The presentation of the award was made by the president of AFASU, Dr Darwish Hossam, and the governor of South Sinai, Khaled Fouda, in the presence of a full hall of academics and other tourism-related delegates attending the conference.<\/p>\n

The AFASU Golden Awards recognise the most influential and outstanding individuals who have made great impact in their fields.<\/p>\n

For these awards, candidates were evaluated on their past accomplishments and on their ability to keep achieving great things.<\/p>\n

The awards also recognise individuals with a long-term vision and a proven track record of achievements.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am honoured to have been presented with this award for tourism and travel. It represents my perseverance and devotion, and it means that my work in tourism has been recognised,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI must admit that I am also humbled. As a tourism minister, I worked with my heart and with passion. I know that I delivered for Seychelles and for the world of tourism. Today, I am once again recognised for a job well done and the recognition is really appreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr St Ange addressed the official opening ceremony of the conference.<\/p>\n

He spoke of Seychelles\u2019 tourism industry and its importance as the pillar of the islands\u2019 economy before venturing to speak about his discovery of Egypt and its unique selling points.<\/p>\n

Mr St Ange ended on a round of applause with a standing ovation from the stage where he was seated alongside the Governor Fouda, Vice-Minister for tourism within the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, Ghada Shalaby, among other dignitaries.<\/p>\n

He was later on invited for a high-level meeting to discuss tourism.<\/p>\n
