Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>To mark World Stroke Day on October 29, Cable and Wireless Seychelles (CWS) hosted a corporate talk to raise awareness about stroke in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Seychelles Stroke Foundation (SSF).<\/p>\n

Strokes are a significant health concern worldwide, and their impact extends beyond personal health to affect workplaces and organisations. Corporate stroke awareness is essential for creating a healthier, more informed workforce and reducing the economic burden of strokes on businesses.<\/p>\n

The talk performed by Dr Teresa Jack from the health ministry, and the chairperson of the SSF, Noemie Woodcock, provided an opportunity for employees of the telecommunications provider to learn more about the risk factors and preventive measures of stroke.<\/p>\n

The attendees also consisted of the floor marshals of CWS who have undergone first aid training in recognising and responding to strokes in the workplace.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see these talks as an opportunity to contribute to a healthier and more engaged workforce, as we want to promote a culture of health consciousness. Our aim at CWS is to create a supportive environment where colleagues can become well versed in the risks and dangers surrounding them,\u201d stated Andrya Louise, health and safety officer at CWS.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognise that our colleagues are at the heart of our business, and we want to empower them to be the best version of themselves. This means equipping staff with the right support and information required for their overall wellbeing,\u201d added Ms Louise.<\/p>\n

To further reinforce the significance of strokes and their impact on individuals, CWS has continuously extended its solidarity to the Seychelles Stroke Foundation. This support has taken place through monetary donations, as well as being an advocate for fundraisers such as SSF\u2019s annual dinner dance that helps raise funds to support the ongoing sensitisation conducted by the foundation.<\/p>\n
