Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>History shows that men are the victims of most suicides in Seychelles. Men grow up in a culture where we are not supposed to show emotions. If you cry like a little boy, you will be dismissed and told that you are like a little girl, and that your little boy will not cry. Growing up, if you become a victim of a crime, you will see that you are eating inside because the reality is that people have the right to laugh and laugh at you the moment you leave the office. History shows that many men are victims of different forms of domestic violence, but the reported cases are really low. “Most victims of alcohol, drugs and other crimes are men. Did we do an in-depth research to find the cause or do we just blame them? This is also the case for us policemen.<\/p>\n

“The world in general, even with a culture that is different, requires that a man take care of his family and work to support his family. So, if you can’t, you won’t be seen as a model for society.<\/p>\n

“The Seychelles Police Force is more than half men. As your commissioner, I can tell you that I understand how this work brings a lot of stress. It is a work that causes them to lack sleep, face situations that can affect them morally, the problems of society that are assigned to them and where the victim expects a solution.<\/p>\n

“But who listens to you? Where are you going to unwind after that day? A lot of people make calls in their schools as well and where after the family is broken, where there are attempts to commit suicide as well. Officers, I assure you of my support, at any time when you think you feel guilty, where you are desperate, where you think that life has reached its last stage, stop, pause, reflect, ask for help, talk and more , the superior rod that you can approach you a health officer, or our psychologists in the force. Don’t go for the suicide option because it’s not the solution. “We need them as much as society needs them. I take this opportunity to wish all men in the Seychelles police force a happy men’s day, which we celebrated yesterday, Sunday, October 19.”<\/p>\n
