Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The National Council for Children (NCC) has hosted its annual \u2018Give a child a gift\u2019 presentation as part of the festive season celebrations.<\/p>\n

The ceremony on Friday afternoon at the NCC headquarters in Bel Eau was in the presence of the Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs, Rose-Marie Hoareau; chief executive of NCC, Yasmin Umarji; along with representatives of regional district administration offices.<\/p>\n

The gifts were once again sponsored by the non-governmental organisation Soroptimist International Club of Victoria. They were presented to each regional district administrator who will in turn distribute them to the less fortunate children of each district.<\/p>\n

Emilie Nicole, who is the office assistant from the Grand Anse Mah\u00e9 district office, explained the presents will be given to six kids in total, who have been chosen based on criteria set by the social workers and the DAs office.<\/p>\n

\u2018Give a child a gift\u2019 initiated by NCC is to honour kids who are less fortunate. Minister Hoareau, who is also one of the founding members of the Soroptimist International Club, said that for Christmas everyone needs a little love and a little joy. Since these kids are unable to experience such Christmas spirits either due to social issues or financial issues, the \u2018Give a child a gift\u2019 activity aids to help bring smiles to the children.<\/p>\n

NCC said it will maintain this annual event as it has been a successful cause to communities and hope to see other similar events to help bring smiles to children\u2019s faces.<\/p>\n
