Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>As per tradition, First Lady Linda Ramkalawan led the Ministry of Health\u2019s senior management team on their Christmas rounds at the Seychelles Hospital last Saturday.<\/p>\n

The visit, which started at the Paediatric Ward and continued to all inpatient units of the hospital, was to bring Christmas cheer to the patients and uplift their spirit since they are spending the day away from loved ones.<\/p>\n

During the tour, the First Lady gifted each child with a special present.<\/p>\n

She expressed her happiness at being able to bring joy and hope to the patients.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to make them feel loved and acknowledged them during this challenging time. Every year we know that they want to spend this time at home, so we try our best to at least bring a smile to their face.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Robert Michel, from the department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, welcomed the tour, stating the annual visits to the pediatrics unit and maternity ward have become a heartwarming tradition. \u201cParticularly for the maternity ward, one of the largest in the hospital. Every year, the media coverage of these visits warms the hearts of the Seychellois people,\u201d he said. The unit had five patients who were awaiting delivery on Saturday and 17 who have already delivered.<\/p>\n

The visit also serves as a sign of recognition and appreciation to the health care workers who will be spending part of the festive season away from their families to care for patients.<\/p>\n

The presence of the First Lady is a reminder of her dedication to community service and emphasises the value of the community coming together to support one another, especially during these trying times.<\/p>\n

To create a festive atmosphere, hospital wards have been decorated with colourful lights and tinsels of various sizes. These decorations aim to uplift both patients and the dedicated staff on duty, fostering a sense of holiday spirit in the hospital environment.<\/p>\n
