Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>A new logo for The Children\u2019s House Montessori primary and preschool was unveiled yesterday to celebrate its 25 years of existence.<\/p>\n

The logo was unveiled by the school\u2019s head teacher, Lucy Barois, in the presence of Vice-President Ahmed Afif and Montessori staff at the school at Bel Air.<\/p>\n

Before the unveiling, the vice-president was guided on a short tour of the establishment and met with some of the teachers and children.<\/p>\n

The school hosts about 80 kids with 14 full-time staff, 2 carers, an intern and other part-time teachers. Ms Barois said in the 25 years the school has welcomed more than 1000 children.<\/p>\n

The new logo is a more colourful take on the old one, with more colours, sparkles and the logo will be used for the rest of the year to symbolise the milestone.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the 25 year milestone, Ms Barois said they have planned 25 days of activities leading up to the end of term. The head teacher stated that this is a time of reflection for the school on the past, the future and what they have achieved.<\/p>\n

Ms Barois added it is her belief that children should enjoy learning. \u201cOften when we think about early childhood and measuring their success and measuring their academics we forget about their happiness,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Debbie Monthy, 27, a past student from the first cohort when the school opened in 1997, said she does not remember much of her time there as it has been so long but she still feels the lasting effect and have made lifelong friendships as she is still friends with a lot of people from her year at the school.<\/p>\n

She added that her learning experiences have made her who she is today and that she still keeps in contact with the head teacher.<\/p>\n

Vice-President Afif recounted his time of bringing to the school his son, who is now 26, and stated that the school has done a wonderful job.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe often forget where they started, we think about the last place they were \u2013 University, A Levels and so on \u2013 but we forget the first place they started and I think that is the foundation,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

The head teacher added that each day of the 25 days of activities will be to recognise something they have achieved in the past. The events will be conducted both in and out of school and will involve parents, children and past students.<\/p>\n
