Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Students of the Seychelles Institute of Technology started their new school year yesterday, over one and half months after the December 7 explosion damaged the school.<\/p>\n

Students from year two and three were welcomed back by their respective heads.<\/p>\n

Seychelles NATION caught up with the institution\u2019s director, Hubert Barbe\u0301 in the afternoon, and he explained that the students came in to be briefed about the school\u2019s new mode of operation following the December 7 incident.<\/p>\n

The institution\u2019s equipment was heavily damaged in the blast primarily its IT equipment, as well as doors and shutters of workshops.<\/p>\n

According to Mr Barbe\u0301, SIT will be operating on a flexible approach system, meaning students will not be required to attend school every day.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the time being the students will attend classes on campus from three to four days a week,\u201d said Mr Barbe\u0301.<\/p>\n

However, for the days they are at home they will be issued materials for their home works and assignments.<\/p>\n

For students who need help or clarifications, they will be able to contact their respective lecturers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis operation will remain in place until the school is back on its feet once more,\u201d said Mr Barbe\u0301.<\/p>\n

He explained that although the SIT campus is still not completely operational, it was still safe for resumption of classes.<\/p>\n

He said the reason they have opened their doors so soon is to ensure that the students do not miss out on their studies.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we delay the date more, our students will not succeed in completing their curriculum by December, and this is not something we wish for,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Seychelles NATION was unable to meet any of the students as the briefing took place in the morning.<\/p>\n

The SIT hopes that its initiative may run smoothly throughout the week and the process would go well for the new year one students who will be starting next month.<\/p>\n
