Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>It has been confirmed that the 2024 Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa Games for zone seven will take place in Seychelles between May 6-11.<\/p>\n

The Games will gather U-18 athletes from the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (Anoca) zone 7 \u2013 southern zone B which is made up of the Comoros, Djibouti, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles.<\/p>\n

They will compete in four sporting disciplines, namely basketball (3×3), beach volleyball, table tennis and swimming.<\/p>\n

Hosted by the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga), the Games are to promote Olympism and its values of universality, diversity and friendship, as well as its goal which is to place sport at the service of the harmonious development of humankind, with a view to promoting a peaceful society concerned with the preservation of human dignity.<\/p>\n

The Games\u2019 organising committee, headed by Socga president Antonio Gopal, met for the first time on Wednesday at the Olympic House at Roche Cai\u0308man.<\/p>\n

Other than Mr Gopal, the other members are Alain Alcindor (commissioner),Hebetty Alcindor (secretary), Chantal Hoffman, Stephanie Duval, Anthea Sinon, Elisha Bristol, Josette Cadence, Rita Ghislain, Elsia Vidot, Franc\u0327ois Magloire (beach volleyball), Adrian Pillay (basketball), Robert Suzette (swimming), and Yannick Nicette (table tennis).<\/p>\n

The Anoca is an international organisation that unites the 54 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of Africa.<\/p>\n

It is currently headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria, and it serves as the successor to standing committee of African Sports or Comite\u0301 permanent du sport africain founded in 1965 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n

It often assembles with other continental NOCs in the form of the Association of National Olympic Committees (Anoc).<\/p>\n

The Anoca was founded on June 28, 1981 in Lome\u0301 by Anani Matthia and Juan Antonio Samaranch with the help of Ydnekatchew Tessema.<\/p>\n

It was then called the Pan-African Olympic Institution at the service of sport, youth, human development and the promotion of Olympic values.<\/p>\n
