Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>A group of local journalists coming from five media houses attended a workshop on \u2018The Role of Investigative Reporting in the Media\u2019 held on Saturday at The Guy Morel Institute.<\/p>\n

The workshop was facilitated by international investigative journalist Oliver Steeds and was organised by the Danny Faure Foundation.<\/p>\n

Its aim was to hone the skills of media practitioners in investigative journalism.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this workshop the Foundation seeks to contribute towards promoting transparency, accountability and good governance,\u201d said Lorraine Faure, the executive director of the Danny Faure Foundation.<\/p>\n

The presentation and discussions covered the process, sources, storyboarding, data journalism among other elements of investigative reporting.<\/p>\n

There were lively discussions on the challenges of practicing investigative reporting.<\/p>\n

The chief executive of the Seychelles Media Commission who has the mandate to monitor the standards of journalism in the country lauded the initiative and said it was timely since investigative reporting is a fairly new concept in Seychelles.<\/p>\n

Participants of the workshop came from various local media outlets and included journalists who have many years of experience and those who are following the Diploma Course in Journalism at the University of Seychelles.<\/p>\n
