Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>\u2018Runners of Charity\u2019 officially launched<\/b><\/p>\n

From now on, all events under the \u2018We all have Dreams\u2019 Charity Challenge initiated by enthusiastic runner Joel Melanie will be undertaken as a group, under the umbrella of the newly-registered Runners of Charity.<\/p>\n

After successfully completing his \u2018Run for a Good Cause Project\u2019 as a lone runner, Mr Melanie has decided to bring other people on board for his second project, with the aim of bringing more flare to the cause, while giving it more weight and visibility.<\/p>\n

The new group was officially launched on Tuesday at the Family House at Bel Eau in the presence of Minister for Youth, Sports and Family Marie-Celine Zialor.<\/p>\n

Other than Mr Melanie as chairman, the committee is made up of vice-chairman Alrick Agricole, secretary Estelle Barreau, treasurer Erica Charles and ordinary members Maggy Harray, Carol Palmyre and Brenda Larue.<\/p>\n

The primary aim of Runners for Charity is to promote the spirit of benevolence and contribute towards enhancing lives and community causes locally.<\/p>\n

Its goal is to promote membership through their organisations are fully engaged in national and international development.<\/p>\n

As objectives, Runners for Charity will encourage sportsmanship beyond competitive sports, create a platform to bring long long-distance athletes together and support projects to make a difference and give back to the community.<\/p>\n

Mr Melanie explained that anyone from other sporting federations is always welcomed to join them during their events, without having to leave their respective sports.<\/p>\n

Mr Melanie started the personal charity project in 2018 with the aim of raising funds for financially-struggling associations towards infrastructure development or other facilities to provide long-term support for Seychellois families and children.<\/p>\n
