Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Immanuel Madeleine won the prestigious President\u2019s Cup during the Seychelles Institute of Technology\u2019s graduation ceremony last Thursday and was also awarded a laptop, a certificate, and a scholarship by the Agency for National Human Resource Development.<\/b><\/p>\n

President Wavel Ramkalawan presented Immanuel Madeleine with the huge trophy inside the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS) in the presence of Minister for Education, Dr Justin Valentin; Minister of Employment and Social Affairs, Patricia Francourt; principal secretary for Education Sector Development, John Lesperance; principal secretary for Educational Services, Merna Eulentin; SIT director Hubert Barb\u00e9, parents and teachers.<\/p>\n

A national diploma graduate in motor vehicle engineering, Immanuel Madeleine was among 173 graduates who had followed courses at certificate, advanced certificate, diploma and national diploma levels. To note, Immanuel Madeleine was also awarded best performer for the national diploma in motor vehicle engineering. The three-year diploma focuses on the mechanical aspects of vehicles and Immanuel Madeleine stated that they were challenging years.<\/p>\n

He added that with perseverance and determination he was able to graduate and clinch the two awards despite the constraints brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The ceremony also had outstanding performers\u2019 awards in the certificate and advanced certificate programmes. The outstanding performer for the certificate programme was Garrel Forte and for the advanced certificate there were two outstanding performers, Julio Joubert in plumbing and Paolo Evenor in mechanical engineering.<\/p>\n

The Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) 2021 graduation ceremony had 21 best performers, one certificate and two advanced certificate awardees.<\/p>\n

SIT director Hubert Barb\u00e9 said the ceremony was an opportunity to pay tribute to the remarkable achievements of graduates and to reflect on the years of hard work and commitment during their studies and training.<\/p>\n

He congratulated them for completing such a major milestone. He underlined that learning a skill at SIT requires that the learner shows interest, is motivated and wants to learn. With it, the learners need to demonstrate a sense of discipline with a positive attitude.<\/p>\n

Mr Barb\u00e9 added that the preparations of the graduates are to start a life that is theirs to lead. The director urged the graduates to seek for the job they want and to seek for the kind of world they wish to live in.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe at SIT believe that the training you have received over the past years has prepared you all to start a life that is yours to lead. Also worth noting is that your progress in life will very much depend on what you are going to learn after you leave SIT rather than what you already know. So my dear graduates, the journey to success awaits you with many more challenges. Knowing who is will help you when you want to seek things you want in life,\u201d said Mr Barb\u00e9.<\/p>\n
