Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Over 40 children of all ages have enrolled to take part in both indoor and outdoor activities organised by the Survival Arc Foundation and during the first week of the Easter holidays they had the chance to gain new knowledge in oral hygiene and care.<\/b><\/p>\n

The activity organised in collaboration with the oral health services was led by Paola Dubignon, a senior dental therapist who is also a member of the Survival Arc Foundation (SAF) board.<\/p>\n

During the activity the group of children had the opportunity to engage in showing how to properly brush their teeth as well as cleaning the surrounding structures of their mouth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe activity was aimed at increasing their knowledge and helping them develop good oral health habits to keep their teeth and mouth clean at all times,\u201d said Fran\u00e7oise Larue, chairperson of SAF.<\/p>\n

All the children present also learned more about the basic structures of the mouth; the different sets, types and functions of the teeth; the process and stages of tooth decay, healthier choices and practices to keep good oral health status.<\/p>\n

The session which took place at the Survival Arc Foundation centre at Beau Vallon ended with a tooth brushing demonstration and practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis activity was very interactive and was very much enjoyed by the 40 children as it was also an opportune time to help them develop one of the most necessary everyday life and health skills,\u201d said Mrs Larue who added that this is the second time the SAF organised such an activity for children.<\/p>\n

The SAF was officially launched in September 2017 and its main aim is to assist parents by taking care of their children during the holidays.<\/p>\n

Theresia Julie is the foundation\u2019s programme coordinator and she said the foundation has a series of activities lined up for the group of children and these include recycling, sporting, recreational as well as different outings to the Roche Ca\u00efman swimming pool and other interesting places.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe children are divided into different groups and we receive support from secondary students and two programme assistants to help us take charge of them,\u201d said Ms Julie.<\/p>\n

One of the organisation\u2019s objectives is to engage children in developing solid educational, health, physical and emotional skills while keeping them in a safe, conducive and nurturing environment where they can enjoy themselves in leisure and recreational activities during the holidays.<\/p>\n
