Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Anse Etoile Stars (women), Anse Etoile (men division two) and Premium Cobras (men division one) are the winners of the Curtain-raiser tournament after triumphing in the finals played on Saturday at the Victoria Gymnasium.<\/b><\/p>\n

Anse Etoile Stars had no problem beating Mont Fleuri 48-37 in the women\u2019s final.<\/p>\n

In fact they had beaten the same Mont Fleuri team 73-47 in their pool A match before walking over B Challenge in the semifinal.<\/p>\n

As for losing finalists Mont Fleuri, they booked their place in the final after eliminating HotShots on a 55-27 score.<\/p>\n

Only four women\u2019s teams registered for the competition and they were divided into two groups of two. Winners of the two group games faced the losers in the cross knockout semifinals.<\/p>\n

The district of Anse Etoile had another winning team as the men\u2019s side, coached by former PLS Hawks\u2019 playmaker Kenneth Domingue, steamrollered Cascade Bullets 71-59 in the final to win the men\u2019s division two title.<\/p>\n

In the semifinals, pool D Anse Etoile beat pool A winners Praslin Boys 76-63 and Cascade Bullets, who won group B, eliminated group C winners AB Boys on a 61-48 score.<\/p>\n

In the men\u2019s division one, Premium Cobras, under the guidance of Dominic Pillay \u2012 a former Seychelles international, needed extra-time to post a 69-67 win against eternal rival PLS Hawks.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the competition, the Hawks had beaten Premium Cobras 53-46 in the group stage.<\/p>\n

In the semifinals, PLS Hawks beat Beau Vallon Heat 67-59 and Premium Cobras edged Baya 65-60.<\/p>\n

Youth and sports principal secretary Ralph Jean-Louis, National Sports Council representative Alain Alcindor and Seychelles Basketball Federation chairman Jean Guy Alphonse presented the cups to the winning teams.<\/p>\n
