Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The Bel Ombre primary school unveiled its Hall of Fame and honoured four former primary pupils who performed outstandingly in their 2021 examinations.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was during a short ceremony the school hosted yesterday morning.<\/p>\n

The Overall Best Achievement award was received by Lyanne Gonthier. Anil Elizabeth, Leyhla Sofa, and Cayla Marie received Best Academic Achievement awards for their dedication and commitment towards their studies.<\/p>\n

This event, sponsored by the Fisherman\u2019s Cove Resort, was attended by the Minister for Education Dr Justin Valentin; the district\u2019s administrator, Tahiri Laurencine; head teacher of Beau Vallon secondary school, Philip Morel; PTA chairperson Antonio Bonne; Dr Odile De Comarmond; members of the Bel Ombre school management; members of the management of Story Seychelles and Fisherman\u2019s Cove resorts; teachers; parents and students.<\/p>\n

Georgina Dhillon, who initiated the Hall of Fame project a few years back, was not able to attend the ceremony as she is out of the country.<\/p>\n

Addressing everyone present, Mr Bonne stated that despite the difficulties of the past two years, these students managed to strive for good results.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t easy and even with all the difficulties you faced, you were not alone. You had your parents, and the four among the best today, you should be grateful not only to your parents, but to the teachers.\u201d<\/p>\n

He thanked the whole school management, the Ministry of Education, the PTA team and the council members for the excellent performances of these students, and congratulated those whose faces have been put up on the Wall of Fame.<\/p>\n

The Bel Ombre primary school\u2019s head teacher, Stella Payet, made a presentation which showed the journey of the former primary six pupils which began from cr\u00e8che. She noted that these pupils were a very curious group, who was keen to learn and never missed an opportunity to take part in the different activities that were organised.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers, the staff of the Bel Ombre school in general, the parents, the Ministry of Education, the Bel Ombre community and in particular you dear pupils,\u201d she exclaimed.<\/p>\n

The four outstanding former primary students were then presented with their award, certificates and cups, sponsored by Mrs Dhillon and the Bel Ombre school.<\/p>\n

Tokens sponsored by the Story Seychelles and Fisherman\u2019s Cove Resort, were also presented to the class by Lynn Tirant, the operations manager of Story Seychelles and Fisherman\u2019s Cove Resort.<\/p>\n

The school also presented an award to Jeannie Marie as a gesture of appreciation for her hard work. Ms Marie is a retired staff member who worked as a teacher in different schools and as a special needs coordinator at Glacis and Bel Ombre primary schools. They expressed their gratitude for the 14 years she spent at their school, ensuring the success of the pupils.<\/p>\n

After a song performance by two students \u2013 Maria and Danielle \u2013 Mrs Betty-Mai Sofa, a parent, thanked the school\u2019s management for demanding nothing but the best, and the teachers for their time, dedication and the interest they showed in the growth of each individual student.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur children are our future and our treasure. They too, deserve a big thank you. Thank you for being committed to your studies, for aiming high, to have a dream and work hard to realise that dream,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the Hall of Fame by Minister Valentin and head teacher Payet, followed by a short reception at the Story Seychelles and Fisherman\u2019s Cove resorts.<\/p>\n
