{"id":9826,"date":"2022-07-06T15:09:40","date_gmt":"2022-07-06T15:09:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\/all-news\/trnuc-schedules-amnesty-hearing"},"modified":"2022-07-06T16:04:40","modified_gmt":"2022-07-06T16:04:40","slug":"trnuc-schedules-amnesty-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\/all-news\/trnuc-schedules-amnesty-hearing","title":{"rendered":"TRNUC schedules amnesty hearing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Truth, Reconciliation and National Unity Commission (TRNUC) has scheduled an amnesty hearing in Case 419, Madelina Joubert, for July 13, 2022 at 9am.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This amnesty hearing has been scheduled pursuant to Section 3(7)(e)(iii) of the TRNUC Act, 2018 (\u201cAct\u201d), which mandates the Commission with the authority to decide whether or not to make a grant of amnesty to those found to be perpetrators before it.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for the grant of amnesty pursuant to Section 12(4) of the Act, a petitioner must provide a full and frank disclosure of their culpable acts and offer sincere apologies to the victim(s).<\/p>\n<p>The amnesty petition in Case 419 concerns the planting of drugs on Robin Barbe in 2008 by employees of the Seychelles Police Force.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Camille, a then serving police officer involved in the incident, has chosen to petition for amnesty for his involvement.<\/p>\n<p>Pursuant to Section 6 (4) (b) of the TRNUC Act the Commission has determined to hold the amnesty hearing in closed session.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\">Seychelles<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Seychelles.
