Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The US Embassy in Sierra Leone has awarded Asmaa James and other Alumnis with the 2024 US Embassy Alumni Impact Awards for their outstanding works and contributions to their communities in Sierra Leone.
As a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship For Young African Leaders fellow, she committed her experience after the fellowship to continue amplifying the voices of women, girls and young people through media using the radio, and today, Rise Radio 96.3FM is a testament.
Expressing her appreciation for the recognition, she took to her Facebook with a Post “I am dedicating this recognition to my other half, Ambrose James, for his continued support; thank you, Ambrose. To my Station Too blessed to be stressed Bah, thank you for believing in my vision and leading the team selflessly. Together, we can only do more. To the United States Ambassador Bryan Hunt, staff and the executive of the Sierra Leone United States Alumni Association, I am grateful for this recognition. Thank you”
We love celebrating our alumni community! Alumni of U.S. exchange programs continue to give back to Salone in diverse ways following their programs in the United States.
Ambassador Hunt said at their recent alumni reception, “we honor your achievements, not just as beneficiaries of U.S. educational programs, but as leaders who have utilized your experiences to effect meaningful change. Your projects and initiatives across Sierra Leone have not only showcased innovative approaches to solving complex challenges but have also illuminated paths for others to follow.”
The Alumni Awards is a way of celebrating the Alumni of U.S. exchange programs as they continue to give back to Sierra Leone in diverse ways.
