Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed an indictment against Mohamed Koroma, a resident of No. 1 Thoronka Lane in Makeni, for academic malpractice related to the November/December 2024 Private WASSCE examinations.
This charge, which contravenes Section 128(3) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008, as amended by the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2019, underscores the ACC’s ongoing efforts to combat examination fraud.
The indictment arises from an incident during the Agricultural Science III examination at Saint Francis Secondary School (Center 004) in Makeni, where Koroma allegedly attempted to impersonate Kelfala Yusuf Koroma, the actual candidate registered for the exam.
Examination supervisors identified discrepancies in the identity documents presented by Koroma, prompting further investigation.
Using WAEC’s VeriCheck biometric system, it was confirmed that Kelfala Yusuf Koroma was not present for the examination.
Investigations revealed that Amadu Beckham Sesay, who facilitated the impersonation, admitted to coordinating the malpractice scheme. He stated that Kelfala Yusuf Koroma, his elder brother residing in Bendugu, had unknowingly provided his BRS ID card for the attempt.
Reports indicate that a payment of Le1,000 was made in advance for the impersonation, out of an agreed total of Le2,000.
