Seizing the opportunity, the Deputy Minister extended a formal invitation to all Ministers of Trade, Industry, and Investment, as well as senior trade officials and experts, to attend the upcoming Sierra Leone AfCFTA Conference. The event is scheduled to take place in Freetown from July 22 to 25, 2025, and will be hosted by His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone, in partnership with His Excellency Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, along with various development partners.
Notably, the conference aims to serve as a strategic platform for raising awareness among key stakeholders, particularly within the private sector and government institutions, regarding the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), seeking to promote a harmonized regional approach to trade under the continental framework.
Participants for the proposed conference would expect a range of activities, including ministerial dialogues, expert-led discussions, policy roundtables, and sessions focused on private sector engagement. Those initiatives are designed to enhance national and regional preparedness for trade under the AfCFTA and to stimulate sustainable industrial growth across member states.
