Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Mabinty Sesay, a student at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, has testified as Prosecution Witness in the ongoing alleged six hundred thousand Leones migrant smuggling case against Muskuda Bendu Sheku and three others. The proceedings took place at High Court No.2 in Freetown, led by Principal State Counsel Lawyer Ahmed James Maxwell (AJM) Bockarie, the lead prosecutor.
During her testimony, Sesay identified the complainant, Sallay Kelly, as her mother and noted that all four accused were neighbours in Waterloo. She recounted an incident in March 2024 when the second accused, Felicia Sheku, approached them at Lulu Drive, informing them of a travel program run by her elder sister, Muskuda Bendu Sheku, the first accused.
According to Sesay, Felicia claimed that the program facilitated Muskuda’s trip to Albania and that their mother, the fourth accused, sold property to support Muskuda’s journey. A week later, Felicia returned, during which their mother agreed to sell their house for three hundred million Leones, facilitated by the fourth accused.
Sesay stated that the total cost of the program was six hundred million old Leones, with three hundred million Leones required for each person. In her presence, her mother contacted the accused and paid 50% of the three hundred million to the fourth accused. However, Sesay later learned from her mother that the program had changed from Australia to the United States and that the accused requested payment of the remaining balance.
Justice Monfred Momoh Sesay adjourned the case to June 11, 2025, denying bail for the accused individuals.
