Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The National Revenue Authority (NRA) showcased a high spirit of commitment to civic engagement at the Presidential Town Hall Meeting held in Kenema District on 17th June, 2025.

Organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE), the event attracted hundreds of residents eager to engage in discussions about governance, economic development, and national priorities.

Leading the NRA’s delegation was Deputy Commissioner General 1, Mrs. Ann-Marie Baby Harding, who represented the Commissioner General. During the meeting, Mrs. Harding highlighted the Authority’s essential role in public financial management, emphasizing the importance of incorporating tax education into national conversations.

To facilitate interaction with the public, the NRA established an outreach booth at the venue, offering a range of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.

NRA staff addressed taxpayer concerns, clarify compliance requirements, and guide attendees on accessing NRA services. This initiative provided local traders, entrepreneurs, and citizens with immediate and accurate information regarding their tax obligations.

Attendees voiced their appreciation for the NRA’s presence, recognizing it as a valuable opportunity to engage directly with tax officials. Local authorities also welcomed the NRA’s involvement, viewing it as a significant step toward improving the relationship between rural communities and national institutions.

Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, praised the NRA for its steadfast support, stressing its crucial role in enhancing government service delivery through effective domestic revenue mobilization.

As the session wrapped up, the Chief Minister, sector ministers, and heads of key ministries, departments, and agencies interacted directly with NRA officials, underscoring the Authority’s vital contribution to achieving national revenue targets.

The NRA reiterated its dedication to expanding its tax education initiatives, aiming to build public trust and promote voluntary compliance, a key aspect of Sierra Leone’s development strategy.
