Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh has announced that Facebook’s monetization features are now available to creators in Sierra Leone. The announcement was made via a post on his official Facebook page.
“Some of Facebook’s monetization is now available in Sierra Leone. Together #WeAreDelivering,” Sengeh stated.
Facebook monetization enables content creators to earn revenue through tools such as in-stream ads, bonuses, and subscriptions. Eligible creators with Facebook Pages, Groups, or those posting short-form content like Reels can now generate income, provided they meet platform requirements.
Minister of Communications, Technology, and Innovation Salima M. Bah has long advocated for Sierra Leonean creators to leverage digital monetization opportunities. She emphasized the importance of social media regulation and maximizing online content for economic growth.
According to the minister, content monetization involves earning revenue through user engagement, either directly or via third-party advertising. Methods include subscriber-only access, online courses, affiliate marketing, product placement, and pay-per-click (PPC) ads.
The government has pledged to implement inclusive policies to support local creators in effectively utilizing these monetization tools, further boosting Sierra Leone’s digital economy.
“Some of Facebook’s monetization is now available in Sierra Leone. Together #WeAreDelivering,” Sengeh reiterated.
