Sierra Leone Police Awarded Trophy to Inspire Women

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The family of the late Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Christiana Juru Simbo presented a golden trophy to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) aimed at inspiring female recruits.

The event took place at the Operations Planning and Policy Department in Kingtom, marking a significant tribute to CSP Simbo’s legacy.

The presentation was led by Mrs. Cynthia Clarkson, who expressed the family’s intention for the trophy to be awarded to the best female recruit in every SLP recruitment training session.

Senior police officials, including Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Andrew Mustapha Kamara, Director of Training, and AIG Musa James, Director of Human Resources, were present to receive the trophy.

AIG Kamara conveyed his deep appreciation for the family’s gesture, stating, “This gift symbolizes the notion that ‘good deeds are never forgotten’. CSP Simbo played a significant role in the development of the Sierra Leone Police, and this trophy will continue to inspire future generations.”

AIG Musa James also commended the initiative, noting its alignment with the SLP’s goals of recruiting high-performing individuals as the organization evolves from a force to a service.

He remarked, “We need female officers who will dedicate themselves to growth – just as CSP Simbo did during her service. I am confident that the aim of securing this trophy, in addition to a ‘Best Stick’, will encourage every female recruit to amplify their effort.”

Mr. Christopher Bayoh, representing the Simbo family, characterized CSP Simbo as a disciplined officer and mother known for her principled character. He emphasized that the trophy would serve not only as a memorial to her legacy but also as a motivational tool to recognize female excellence within the police force.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alpha Kamara. A group photograph was taken, capturing a moment of unity and appreciation between the Simbo family and the SLP, reinforcing the commitment to honoring the contributions of female officers in the police service.
