President Dr. Julius Maada Bio today, Friday, July 25, 2025, presided over the official swearing-in ceremony for Paul Hinga Tucker, the new Deputy Minister of Communication, Technology, and Innovation, and David Fortune, the new Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. The ceremony took place at State House.
The appointments and subsequent oaths of office are mandated by Sections 68(4) and 69(2) of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, which require appointees to take a prescribed oath before assuming their official duties.“I look forward to supporting you both as you leverage your experience to advance our administration’s goals and improve our delivery on key initiatives,” President Bio stated.
He further emphasized the demanding nature of their responsibilities but conveyed his confidence in their ability to deliver. “Together, we can achieve meaningful progress with a strong, effective civil service,” he remarked.
President Bio underscored the critical role of the civil service in governance, highlighting the necessity of sound policy advice and professional guidance.
“We need your brilliance and institutional memory to inform decision-making. I am counting on your leadership, commitment, and experience to drive results. Congratulations once again, and I look forward to working closely with you both,” he concluded.
