Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Madam Kenyeh Barlay, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, has warned that any further delays in establishing the Civil Service Cooperative Credit Union (CivSCCU) will not be tolerated.

She stressed that such delays would deprive civil servants of access to vital loans needed for medical expenses, school and college fees, and other emergencies.

Madam Barlay made the remarks on Wednesday, August 13, during a meeting at the Ministry of Finance Conference Hall on George Street in Freetown. The gathering brought together stakeholders to examine the CivSCCU’s one-year status report. It also looked at other important things like proposals, financial strategies, and the actions needed to establish a strong and sustainable financial institution for civil servants across the country.

Madam Barlay encouraged everyone involved to speed up the work and ensure that the credit union is fully operational as soon as possible.
