Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has called for an increase in domestic revenue mobilization in the country.
The Honorable Vice President was delivering a keynote address during the commencement of the Budget Policy Hearing, held at Bintumani Hotel in Freetown, on Thursday 11th September 2025.
The Vice President reminded government officials of the urgent need to generate revenue to propel our development aspirations in the face of dwindling overseas development aid and the worsening global economic outlook.’’
Vice President Jalloh also highlighted the strong correlation between revenue and state capacity to deliver basic services.
‘’ Today in Sierra Leone, seven hundred children are born each day; this translates to about fourteen classrooms that our government has promised to provide for free through our flagship education program.’’
He concluded by saying, It is on us to secure the future of our children. The needs are significant, and planning must start now. As we employ strategies to increase the mobilization of revenue, we have to be equally astute in the protection of that revenue. The buck stops with us.
