Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has successfully concluded the Collaborative Policing Course (CPOL 25) at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA) in Freetown.
The two-week training, which commenced on September 8th, brought together senior officers from the Sierra Leone Police, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, the National Fire Force, the Correctional Service, and the Immigration Department.
The course was designed to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in addressing transnational organised crime, human trafficking, and other emerging security threats.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Dr Senalor Yawlui, commended participants for their commitment throughout the intensive programme. He expressed confidence that the training had met its objectives and urged participants to apply the skills acquired within their respective institutions.
“I am sure that you will apply these competencies to your institutions as we collectively confront today’s complex security challenges,” Dr Yawlui said, while also acknowledging the invaluable role of the facilitators. He extended appreciation to Sierra Leone’s Inspector General of Police, Mr William Fayia Sellu, for his support, and to the KAIPTC leadership for their continued partnership.
Representing the IGP, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Esther Mary Kaintor-Dukuray congratulated participants and highlighted the importance of synergy and collaboration across agencies.
“Inter-agency collaboration is key in the fight against transnational and organised crime,” AIG Dukuray emphasised, adding that the course had demonstrated the power of learning together to tackle border-related offences effectively.
Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Alphonso Abdulai Fambulleh, who delivered a reflection on behalf of participants, described the course as “nothing short of excellent.” He praised the facilitators for the quality of materials provided and commended his colleagues for their active participation.
Finally, the ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants, followed by group photographs.
