Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. A book detailing the presidency and leadership legacy of former Sierra Leonean leader Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma was launched at an event in the United States capital, with Dr. Richard Konteh serving as the keynote speaker.

The book, titled “Legacy of Leadership,” was launched on October 3, 2025. It provided a comprehensive summary of Sierra Leone’s democratic transformation and post-conflict recovery during Dr. Koroma’s tenure from 2007 to 2018.

Credited to the Council of Progressives, the book focused on the former president’s major policy initiatives and achievements, framing his governance through successive national development plans: the “Agenda for Change” (2008-2012) and the “Agenda for Prosperity” (2013-2018).

Key themes highlighted in the publication included a major infrastructure development push to rebuild the nation’s roads, water systems, and energy supply. It also detailed economic reforms that aimed to attract foreign investment, which led to Sierra Leone becoming one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies by 2014.

The book recorded significant achievements such as the launch of a free healthcare initiative for pregnant women and young children, and efforts to strengthen democratic institutions. It also addressed the significant challenge of the 2014 Ebola outbreak, portraying Dr. Koroma’s leadership during the crisis as a unifying force.

The work ultimately portrayed Dr. Koroma’s leadership style as one defined by vision and a commitment to excellence, crediting his private sector experience for a results-oriented approach to governance.

Dr. Koroma selected Dr. Richard Konteh to deliver the keynote address at the launch, a role Dr. Konteh also recently filled at the Wesleyan National Youth Conference in Makeni on the former president’s behalf.
