Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Ghana to the Russian Federation, His Excellency Dr. Koma Steem Jeh-Appiah, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Moscow, marking his first official engagement with the Mission since his appointment.

Dr. Jeh-Appiah was warmly received by His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Yongawo, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Russia, alongside senior officials of the Sierra Leonean Mission. Ambassador Yongawo congratulated Dr. Jeh-Appiah and expressed confidence in his ability to advance Ghana’s strategic interests in Moscow.

The discussions between the two envoys focused on deepening bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on peace, development, and economic partnerships. Both sides highlighted the importance of promoting trade and investment opportunities, as well as expanding cultural and educational exchanges between Ghana, Sierra Leone, and the Russian Federation.

Ambassador Yongawo briefed Dr. Jeh-Appiah on Sierra Leone’s recent political and developmental milestones, including President Julius Maada Bio’s tenure as Chair of the United Nations Security Council and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). He also underscored Sierra Leone’s renewed national agenda, focused on Human Capital Development, with priority areas such as education, agriculture, skills training, and economic diversification.

In response, Dr. Jeh-Appiah commended Sierra Leone’s progress and the transformative work of its Mission in Moscow. He also highlighted Ghana’s achievements under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, noting ongoing reforms aimed at accelerating national development and enhancing governance.

Both ambassadors reaffirmed their shared commitment to closer collaboration, recognizing the historical ties between Ghana and Sierra Leone. They agreed to intensify diplomatic engagement and pursue joint initiatives to enhance the prosperity and well-being of their citizens.
