Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. On Wednesday, 26th November 2025, the Regent Community Recreational Centre came alive as Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament Segepoh Solomon Thomas attended Modern Elementary School’s Annual Inter-House Athletics Meet and officially launched the school’s 30th (pearl) anniversary celebrations.

In his remarks, Speaker Thomas commended the school for three decades of excellence in academics and athletics. “Today we honour thirty years of resilience, growth, and a bright future being built on these very grounds,” he said as he unveiled the ceremonial plaque marking the milestone.

The event featured vibrant house competitions, colourful student parades, and a spirited atmosphere reflecting the school’s strong community engagement. Mrs. Helen C. Kellie, in her welcome address, highlighted the importance of combining quality education with sporting activities and announced the launch of the Modern Elementary School Sports Arena Project, aimed at enhancing the school’s athletic infrastructure.

Ing. Andrew Keili also addressed the gathering, reflecting on the school’s early challenges and remarkable growth. He officially declared the anniversary year open, praising the dedication of teachers, parents, and community members who have supported the institution’s progress.

Speaker Thomas’s presence underscored Parliament’s commitment to supporting educational and sporting initiatives across Sierra Leone.

The celebrations marked not only a historic milestone for Modern Elementary School but also reinforced its role as a cornerstone of development in the Regent community.
