Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Dr. Alhaji K. Tarawally, CEO of the Lake Group of Companies, has issued a public offer to the Government of Sierra Leone to assist in resolving ongoing diplomatic tensions with the United States, specifically regarding visa restrictions and Green Card reviews.
In an open letter addressed to President Julius Maada Bio and Minister of Foreign Affairs Timothy Kabba, Dr. Tarawally volunteered his expertise in international relations and strategic communications entirely “without charge,” emphasizing that he is seeking a mandate to serve rather than gain employment.
The offer comes amidst what Dr. Tarawally describes as “sensitive diplomatic issues” affecting Sierra Leoneans both at home and in the diaspora. He highlighted the current US visa restrictions and the review of Green Card statuses for Sierra Leonean citizens as critical challenges requiring immediate and technical intervention.
“I am confident that, with an official mandate from my government, I can use my deep understanding of U.S. foreign policy, my extensive professional connections with key California lawmakers, and my diplomatic skills to help manage and navigate these important discussions,” Dr. Tarawally stated.
Dr. Tarawally, a published author and holder of a PhD in International Relations, cited over a decade of experience in global development across the US, Europe, and Africa. His background includes leading public health communications with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Africa and authoring the book “African Brain Drain,” which analyzes migration and US foreign policy.
He argues that his academic background in international law and practical experience in corporate governance position him to craft narratives that can bridge the current diplomatic divide.
“My love and commitment to Sierra Leone are unquestionable,” Dr. Tarawally wrote, urging the nation to look beyond tribal and political differences. “I am respectfully and patriotically offering my expertise, my network, and my time to the government of Sierra Leone.”
Dr. Tarawally clarified that while his services are free, he requires an official government mandate to effectively utilize his network to ease difficulties for Sierra Leonean citizens and stabilize relations with Washington.
