Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Nineteen officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), including the Head of Media, Public Relations and Sports, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Brima Kamara, have been formally called to the Bar after successfully completing the required academic and professional training.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, marking a major milestone in the careers of the officers involved. Their call to the Bar qualifies them to practice law and reflects years of academic dedication alongside their policing duties.
The development notably reflects a growing trend within the SLP, as an increasing number of officers pursue university education and professional qualifications in diverse fields. This shift is seen as strengthening the institution’s capacity to deliver more effective, rights-based and service-oriented policing.
Police leadership has continued to encourage officers to improve their academic and professional standing, viewing education as essential to improving service delivery, upholding the rule of law and enhancing public confidence in the Police.
The call to the Bar of the nineteen officers is deemed as an ongoing effort to modernise the Sierra Leone Police and align its operations with contemporary law enforcement standards.
