Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has departed for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, to participate in high-level consultative meetings on the next phase of FIFA’s global football development funding framework.
The discussions, convened by FIFA, bring together football development stakeholders from across the world to deliberate on the transition from the current FIFA Forward 3.0 programme to the upcoming Forward 4.0 cycle, expected to commence in January 2027 following the conclusion of the existing phase in 2026.
The consultations are aimed at gathering input from member associations on how future development funding should be structured, managed, and implemented to ensure greater impact and sustainability in global football growth initiatives.
Babadi Kamara is representing Sierra Leone at the meetings as part of efforts to ensure that national associations actively contribute to shaping the future direction of FIFA’s development strategy. His participation also reflects Sierra Leone’s continued engagement in key international football governance and policy discussions.
While in Abidjan, capital of Ivory Coast, President Kamara is also expected to attend one of the ongoing FIFA Series matches taking place in the city of Abidjan, alongside other football leaders and stakeholders.
The FIFA Forward Programme is FIFA’s flagship development initiative designed to provide financial assistance and technical support to member associations worldwide. It focuses on strengthening football infrastructure, improving governance systems, and enhancing grassroots development.
Through successive phases, including the ongoing Forward 3.0 cycle, the programme has supported numerous football development projects across the globe.
The upcoming Forward 4.0 phase is expected to place even greater emphasis on accountability, transparency, and impact-driven investment in the game.
