Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Freetown City FC delivered a statement performance at the Approved School Field on Monday April 13, sweeping aside a struggling FC Kallon 3-0 in Matchweek 24 of the Leone Rock Premier League.
The Citizens were clinical, composed, and ruthless in front of goal, handing the Cavaliers a fourth straight league defeat and piling further pressure on the under-fire visitors.
The afternoon belonged to Hendovei Tucker, the in-form forward opened the scoring with a trademark poacher’s finish, timing his run to perfection before slotting past the advancing keeper. It was a goal that settled Freetown City’s early nerves and set the platform for their dominance.
Tucker was not done there. After Freetown City had controlled large spells of possession and pinned Kallon deep in their own half, he struck again late in the contest to complete his brace and take his personal tally to 10 league goals for the season, equaling Wilberforce Striker’s Randy M. George tally and sitting one goal behind James Jusu Kanja of Old Edwardians. His movement off the ball, work rate, and cold finishing underlined why he has become central to the Citizens’ attacking threat.
Sandwiched between Tucker’ double was a well-taken goal from Alhassan Sillah in the 82nd minute. Sillah arrived late in the box to meet a low cross and calmly picked out the far corner, capping a flowing team move that summed up Freetown City’s superiority on the day.
FC Kallon’s difficult afternoon went from bad to worse when Nathaniel Jalloh was shown a straight red card midway through the second half. Already chasing the game and lacking cohesion, the Cavaliers were forced to see out the remainder of the match with ten men.
The numerical disadvantage left Kallon exposed, and Freetown City took full advantage. The Citizens dictated tempo, stretched play, and created overloads that the Cavaliers simply could not handle. By the final whistle, the 3-0 scoreline felt a fair reflection of the gulf between the two sides on the day.
The result extends FC Kallon’s losing run to four matches, following defeats to Bo Rangers, Mighty Blackpool, and East End Lions. Once considered title outsiders, FC Kallon now find themselves sliding down the table with confidence draining and fans voicing frustration at the team’s lack of fight and structure.
In contrast, Freetown City will take huge encouragement from the win. The performance was disciplined defensively and incisive going forward, a combination that keeps them comfortably placed in 14th position and boosts morale ahead of their next fixture.
Freetown City will look to build momentum from this result as the season enters its decisive phase. For FC Kallon, the search for answers becomes more urgent with each passing week.
