Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. East End Lions have once again demonstrated why they are considered one of Sierra Leonean football’s giants, after being crowned champions of this year’s SLFA Men’s Unity Cup.

The “Killers” secured a thrilling 2–0 victory over Bhantal FC at the Approved School Field in Freetown.

The match was intensely competitive from the start, with both teams creating numerous chances in the first half but failing to score. The deadlock was finally broken in the 70th minute when Alusine Dumbuya fired a superb finish to give East End Lions the lead, igniting wild celebrations among their supporters.

As the game drew to a close, Mohamed Koroma sealed the win in the 90th minute with a well-timed tap-in from a low cross, ensuring a well-deserved triumph for the 2024/25 Leone Rock Premier League champions.

The match attracted football dignitaries, including SLFA Vice President and Ex-Officio Kwaku Lisk and Western Area Regional Football Association Chairman Rev. Philip Buck, underscoring the significance of the competition. Thousands of fans from across Freetown and beyond packed the stadium, witnessing an exciting and memorable clash between two top Sierra Leonean clubs.

The Unity Cup traditionally serves as the curtain-raiser to the new football season, which officially kicks off on Saturday, 8 November 2025, signaling the start of another competitive league campaign.

With this victory, East End Lions not only add another trophy to their illustrious history but also set a high benchmark for clubs in the upcoming season.
