Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>Haroun Oluwole Zubairu has called on the President, Julius Maada Bio and Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr to work together and fight against the \u2018Kush\u2019 problem in the country which he described as another Epidemic in Freetown.<\/p>\n

He made this call in a video shared online.<\/p>\n

\u201d Kush has become a big problem in our country. As a matter of fact, it has become an Epidemic. Kush is killing our children, it is Killing the youth and a whole generation can be wiped out by this deadly disease. We are calling on the President to work together with the Mayor to fight this deadly addiction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Zubairu spoke on the effects and dangers of Kush and proffers ways to handle the situation.<\/p>\n

Part of the solutions he made mention of is for the president to first of all address the symptoms that comes with Kush.<\/p>\n

These symptoms according to him are: drowsiness after taking it, blood pressure elevating to 220\/ 180 which he said lead to seizures and when they fall they hit their head causing bleeding within and leading to death.<\/p>\n

He added that it also sometimes alter ones mentality and that is where we see anxiety, alusination etc.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the mental effect, he mentioned that there are over 780,000 Sierra Leoneans suffering from mental illnesses in the country.<\/p>\n

He furthered that immediately the symptoms begin to show, medications like antihypertensive medication and antiseizure medication should be given to help revive them.<\/p>\n

Zubairu also called for the rehabilitation of addicts, adding that will help in fighting the proliferation of kush the city.<\/p>\n

Another solution he talked about is that the president should talk to the attorney General, Minister of Health and the Law enforcement people to arrest and jail those that are selling these drugs to the people.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr President, I know that you can do it and we are hoping that you and Madam Mayor can work together and fix this problem.\u201d Said Zubairu<\/p>\n

He concluded by encouraging all to come together and fight this deadly addiction through sensitization, be it in the schools, mosques, churches and the community.<\/p>\n
