Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The Commissioner of Sierra Leone\u2019s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Francis Ben Kaifala has reflected on section 137 of the Anti-Corruption Act of 2008 which gave them the legal mandate to charge Sierra Leoneans outside of the country for corruption offences.<\/p>\n

The ACC czar made this revelation on a post shared on his social media page, as he intends to take Sierra Leone to the center stage in the fight against corruption globally.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been reflecting on section 137 of our Anti-Corruption Act of 2008 as we are now entering the crucial phase of consolidating the new image of Sierra Leone internationally as the hub for the fight against corruption in Africa,\u201d he stated.The section reads: \u201cConduct by a citizen of Sierra Leone that takes place outside Sierra Leone constitutes an offence Under this Act if the conduct would constitute an offence under this Act if it took place in Sierra Leone\u201d<\/p>\n

Commissioner Ben Kaifala further noted that, \u201cBringing Sierra Leone into disrepute will now be an offence chargeable by the ACC if it satisfies any provision of the Anti-Corruption Act.\u201d<\/p>\n
