Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>President Julius Maada Bio has told a congregation at St. Patrick\u2019s Catholic Church in Bonthe Sherbro Island that his government will find economic activities for Bonthe Municipality that will boost its economy.President Bio, who was speaking after a Christmas Service on 25th December, 2022, said Bonthe Sherbro Island has been neglected by previous governments.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince 2018, we have done lot of things to transform this municipality. We will continue to look out for economic activities that will boost this Island\u2019s economy. We want to provide the things that will make this municipality a municipality that everybody will love to reside,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said he was always happy to be among his people and to always spend Christmas with them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are celebrating Christmas at a time that the whole world is going through economic hardship. This hardship was caused by COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War. Things are very tough for us now but we are keeping the faith that we will soon get out of these tough times,\u201d President Bio frankly told the congregation.<\/p>\n

Chairperson, St. Patrick\u2019s Parish in Bonthe Sherbro Island, Mrs. Agnes Thomas said President Bio\u2019s regular December visit has reinvented the will of the colonial town that history forgot because of bad politics, adding that they remained indebted to President Bio for that.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Bio has changed the face of the municipality in a way that we never thought it would have happened in our own era. The water supply system, sea-face-wall, construction and rehabilitation of township roads, the city hall project and the power grid in Bonthe Sherbro Island have transformed the city,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said the cash support to the aged, the appointment of some elders as Justices of the Peace (JPs), the provision of brand-new ambulances and medical supplies to the district referral hospitals, especially the Bonthe Government Hospital, have all give facelifts to the Bonthe Sherbro Island.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Agnes Thomas said the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration Search and Rescue Centre Project is still going on in Bonthe Sherbro Island.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank you for your support toward the rehabilitation of our multipurpose parish hall. It was your regular visit that inspired us to undertake that project,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
