Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>Sierra Leone\u2019s main opposition party, All Peoples Congress (APC) has stated that their ward Party position elections held throughout the country yesterday was largely peaceful and party members remained patient for the most part.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

This is according to press statement issued on Thursday, 29 December 2022, and signed by the Chairman of the Transitional Interim Independent Elections Management Committee (hereinafter referred to as \u201cTIIEMC\u201d), Ibrahim Sorie.<\/p>\n

The statement reads as follows;<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Transitional Interim Independent Elections Management Committee (hereinafter referred to as \u201cTIIEMC\u201d) of the All Peoples Congress wishes to thank members of the Party for the large turnout for today\u2019s ward Party position elections held throughout the country. The process was largely peaceful and party members remained patient for the most part. The TIIEMC regrets any inconvenience caused to members during today\u2019s exercise and apologises for any lapses.<\/p>\n

Elections were conducted in almost all wards of the country which in itself is a remarkable achievement. Counting is still underway in many wards. Voting in Kono District save for three wards did not commence today. After consultation with the leadership of the Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC) it has been decided that the elections for the remaining wards in Kono District will be held on January 2, 2023. A two day registration process will precede the rescheduled elections and ITGC shall make the necessary information available. The few other ward elections not held today shall be held tomorrow or as soon as practicable but not later than January 2, 2023. A revised time table for all other lower level elections will be published in due course.<\/p>\n
