Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>His Excellency President Dr. Julius Madabeau has declared agricultural transformation as a priority for his second term in office and therefore, called on development partners at the ongoing Dakar 2 Summit to Support the food and food of his country. In his opening statement at the Sierra Leone Board of Directors meeting of the Dakar 2 Summit on “Nutrition in Africa: Food Sovereignty and Resilience”, the President also announced that in the next five years, he will prioritize the transformation of agriculture for employment and wealth creation and He added that he saw agribusiness as a key driver of growth for the country and a critical area for investment to focus on.
\nOur Food and Agriculture Delivery Agreement\u2026 is a $649 million initiative to improve agricultural productivity for food security in Sierra Leone. “We will invest heavily in mechanization and climate-smart agricultural technologies and promote private sector participation in agricultural value chains.”<\/p>\n

President Bio added: “To ensure the delivery of this pact in the most efficient and responsive manner, my administration will establish a Presidential Task Force on Agricultural Development, which I will chair, to provide strategic leadership for its successful implementation. ”<\/p>\n

Emphasizing that the dual goal of his government will be to replace imported food instead of domestically grown food and finally to export processed agricultural products, he added that in this way it will create jobs for citizens, especially young people and women in rural areas. Therefore, we seek strategic partnerships, including the private sector, development partners, regional and international research institutions and aid agencies to develop our agricultural production, processing and marketing infrastructure sub-sectors.
