Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The 23rd batch of Chinese doctors in Sierra Leone have received commendations from patients and local medical staff for their work. The Dean of the Sierra Leone-China Friendship Hospital in Freetown, Karim Kabineh said that he was deeply touched by the effort of the team.<\/p>\n

The otolaryngologist said that hospitals in Sierra Leone have faced shortage of stable water and electricity but the team was able to navigate through such challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes when a power outage occurred, the air conditioner was not working, and doctors have to work in a swelter. Yet, I saw them taking care of the patients despite sweating,\u201d Kabineh said.<\/p>\n

He added that some of the doctors even used their personal equipment they brought from China to work. He stated that some even used spare time to do extra duties with passion.<\/p>\n

He referenced the team\u2019s effort in the fight against COVID-19 in the last three years. The dean also commended the humanitarian and charitable nature of the team which donated medical supplies and also trained local staff in handling complicated surgeries.<\/p>\n

Liu Meng, an emergency physician of Chinese medical team said that he was impressed by the willingness of Sierra Leoneans to learn. \u201cWe also carried out a lot of first-aid training in remote communities and schools, which was warmly welcomed by students and residents. They listened attentively and acted accordingly,\u201d Liu told Xinhua.<\/p>\n

One of the patients, Memunatu Conteh said that she visited the hospital because of the Chinese medical team and praised the quality of service she received there.<\/p>\n
