Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Jabbe Maada Bio on Saturday engaged residents of Kono district and expressed gratitude to the overwhelming number of attendees at a recent gathering.<\/p>\n

<\/a>She emphasized the importance of remaining focused and united in their efforts. Recognizing the significance of their shared homeland, she reaffirmed her unwavering commitment and support.<\/p>\n

The First Lady highlighted the numerous visits made by President Julius Maada Bio to Kono District, which amounted to a remarkable 17 visits in just five years. According to her, these visits symbolize the President\u2019s genuine concern for the well-being of the people of Kono and signify his dedication to cleansing the country\u2019s international image. She added that Tmthis effort has been crucial in combatting issues such as corruption, poverty, illiteracy, rape, and gender-based violence that once plagued the nation.<\/p>\n

Fatima Bio further emphasized the significant strides made by her husband during his tenure.<\/p>\n

She said President Julius Maada Bio\u2019s tireless work in formulating effective policies has earned the country newfound respect globally. She cited notable accomplishments include his co-chairmanship at the United Nations Summit, his role as an education champion, and his chairmanship of the African Peer Review Committee. Furthermore, Sierra Leone\u2019s bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council demonstrates the nation\u2019s increasing prominence on the world stage.<\/p>\n

Hon. Emerson Saa Lamina, who also addressed the audience, highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Bio-led government in Kono District over the past five years.<\/p>\n

He confidently declared that the upcoming June 24 polls are already a foregone conclusion, citing the government\u2019s unwavering dedication to the people and their daily communication of the administration\u2019s message.<\/p>\n

Hon. Emerson praised the exceptional policy formulation, manifestos, and delivery of President Julius Maada Bio, contrasting it with previous administrations.<\/p>\n

As a former Mines Committee Chairman in Parliament, Hon. Emerson praised the transparent disbursement of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) under the New Direction administration. He cited specific examples, mentioning the successful payment of 40 billion Leones to Marfokie and Marampa Chiefdoms, as well as 26 billion Leones to Selenga.<\/p>\n

Hon. Emerson also highlighted the unprecedented initiatives undertaken by the government to empower the youth, such as youth car washes, youth farms, and the establishment of the National Youth Service Commission. He also acknowledged the government\u2019s efforts to mitigate the rising cost of living and ensure affordable prices for basic commodities.<\/p>\n

He noted that the district has witnessed substantial transformation under the current government\u2019s leadership, including the establishment of a university, the provision of reliable electricity, the creation of a maternal center of excellence, and the construction of 650 culverts and bridges.<\/p>\n

Kono District has been a pivotal player in Sierra Leone\u2019s political landscape, particularly in recent times.<\/p>\n\r\n
