Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The National Election Watch (NEW) said none of the two front-runners in the 2023 presidential election will receive the 55 percent threshold to avoid runoff.<\/p>\n

<\/a>\u201cNo candidate will reach the constitutional threshold of 55 percent of votes cast in the first round,\u201d NEW said in a press statement issued on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

They predicted that voter turnout as per their PRVT will be around 77 percent.The observation mission informed the public that the 60 percent announced by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) is not representative of 60 percent in each district.<\/p>\n

They said this is so \u201cbecause polling stations vary in size\u201d.<\/p>\n

NEW\u2019s breakdown said the 60 percent is inclusive of 80 percent of votes in Kailahun, 71 percent in Bombali, 66 percent in Port Loko, 71 percent in Bo and 44 percent in Western Urban.<\/p>\n

They commended the ECSL for their job done so far after they found out that their data is in tandem with NEW\u2019s PRVT.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wish to thank the Commission for providing data disaggregated by district, which increased transparency of the process and can build confidence for the remaining process,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

The ECSL announced partial results on Monday with the incumbent currently leading by a landslide. ECSL said final results will be announced before Wednesday.<\/p>\n
